How much does a food photography session cost for a small restaurant?

We do not publish a flat fee, because a small restaurant is not a dish count. At tuinsta.design the quote comes from the menu that has to be photographed, from whether the room and the team are in, and from the uses. Cristina Osuna closes it on WhatsApp after seeing the venue, not from a price band copied off the internet.

What moves the job up or down

Scope moves the cost, not the postcode. A morning in a neighbourhood venue, with the dishes people actually order, a few room frames and two or three portraits of whoever is on the pass, is a different job from a full catalogue plus video and ads. Folding them into one price means someone overpays or runs out of pictures.

It also changes if the kitchen can pause between services or if you have to shoot with the dining room open. It changes if styling is separate, if the menu turns every week, and if the photos have to work for a large print as well as a phone. Travel inside the Community of Madrid is part of how we work; outside that radius we say so first.

  • How many dishes must be delivered edited, not how many get tested.
  • Room, terrace and frontage, if guests choose the place by how it looks.
  • Team portraits and image permission.
  • Vertical files for social and horizontal files for menu and web.
  • A short video on the same visit, if you want it now.
  • Rights for web, Google, social and ads, in writing.

What is usually enough for a small restaurant

For a house with a short menu, one well-ordered visit is often enough: the dishes that appear on delivery and on the printed menu, one set table, the bar or dining room in its own light, and the gesture of whoever plates. That opens Google Business, replaces the website photos and feeds several weeks of social without inventing a picture on Tuesday.

You do not need every side dish on day one. You need a bank that does not lie. If the photographed plate is bigger, greener or glossier than the one that reaches the table, the review writes itself. We would rather deliver fewer honest frames than an inflated set.

How to compare quotes without staring at a bare number

Ask each photographer for the same list: edited photos, deadline, formats, retouching, travel and uses. A low price that leaves out the room, or that limits use to “personal social”, gets expensive when you want the file in an ad or on the Google listing.

Be wary of a per-photo rate from someone who has not seen the kitchen. Be wary of a closed pack that promises a “premium session” without saying how many files come out or who shows up. At tuinsta.design the next step is a message with the kind of house, how many hero dishes you have, and whether the shoot is before opening or between services.

Questions for reading a quote
QuestionWhy it matters
How many edited photos come out?The number, not the adjective, is the job.
Are the room and the team included?Without them you have a menu, not a restaurant.
Which uses does the price cover?Web, Google, social and ads are not the same.
Are retouching and travel inside? If they are extra, the total changes.
Is video another visit?Recording the same day saves a second kitchen stop.

What we will not invent here

We do not print a “from” figure on this page, because every menu weighs differently and a loose number goes stale. Anyone who hands you a band without asking about the pass is selling a product, not a session in your house.

If you want a scope for your venue, message Cristina on WhatsApp at +34 634 11 28 99 or cristina@tuinsta.design. Tell us the neighbourhood, whether the menu is short, and whether you need the room as well as the plate. We reply with what the visit includes and what stays out.

What to send so the quote is not a guess

A useful message carries the neighbourhood, whether the menu is short or long, whether you want the room and the team as well as the plate, and whether the visit can happen before service. With that, we can say what fits in a morning and what would wait. Without it, any figure — ours or someone else’s — is a lucky hit.

A current photo of the room helps too, even a bad one. You can see the light, whether the dining room is tight and whether the work has to happen at night. That changes the day more than the photographer’s follower count. Once we have it, we reply with what the visit includes and what stays out, on the same WhatsApp.
